Lijialin Way A new green-colored village
When the Beinan culture naturally encounters the primitivism

Lijialin Way is a great place from which to over the beautiful rurality in the east part of Taiwan. |

The soil and water conservation bureau has built up on the Lijialin Way a green corridor in which the butterflies are dancing around-the Color Butterfly Fence. |
Lijialin Way –the new village of worms, fishes, birds and animals, can serve as the beautiful mountain path along which to carry out the case study of natural ecology and prehistoric culture. This Way was an ancient felling path perforating the Daba Liujiu Mountain in Beinan Township of Taitung County, and was also the hunting and agricultural cultivation ground of the Puyuma Daba Liujiu Community. Now, a new green-color village has been created to become a new ecological tourism route in Taitung, by means of care of the local land, focus on afforestation and aggressive construction of an ecology educational environment, under the promotion of the Lijialin Way Development Association initiated by the local residents.

In the season of firefly propagation on the Lijialin Way, the travelers can follow the Zhuzi ( Bamboo) Walkway to go deeply into the forest to take a look at these fireflies. |
Sourced from the Puyuma language, the word Ligavon is used to describe the flourishing taro leaves grown on a fertile land. The Lijialin Way has a total length of 39 Kilometers, while in recent years, the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau has assisted this community to build a green-colored corridor at its entrance. Along this corridor, such honey source plants as aristolochiaceae have been inseminated to attract the groups of butterflies flying everywhere and laying eggs or pupae so that a vagarious landscape of colorful butterfly fence has been formed. Around this place is a paradise for animals and plants with a complete set of forest forms nurturing 10 or more varieties of native frogs in Taiwan, among which the treasurable Orange-Belly Green Tree Frogs growing particularly in Taiwan are included.
If you decide to walk deeply into this forest path in pursuit of tranquility, you may as well walk into the firefly appreciation walkway in the forest and the ecological walkway that impenetrates the prehistoric cultural site. Both walkways were the creation of community residents by use of the natural materials, while the former was elevated and laid by means of bamboos in the dense forest, and the latter was built with the ladders made of drifting wood or tree branches. During the great propagation of fireflies in the late spring, the exciting sea of such flashing insects can add more charms to these forest paths.
Along the Lijialin Way, you can see the humanistic and cultural spaces of Puyuma people built to preserve the historical appearances of this site including: the Stone Patron Saint deemed as the jinni of this mountain you need to worship before entering into the mountain—Palisi, the mythological color paintings of the Daba Liujiu tribe, the prehistoric cultural relic of the old community and the millet garden that altogether function as the cultural inheritance, as well as the resting workshops and dala feiyue of the Puyuma hunters. On the Lijialin Way, the Beinan culture and primitivism will meet each other naturally, while every footprint will be an exciting move.
Picking up the green plums and conserving the fairy pitta (eight-color birds) by the way

The blossoming plums are just like the white cloudy snow covering on the top of the mountain. |

The season of plum harvest will arrive around the Tomb-sweeping Day, when the Lijialin Way will launch the project of buying plums to conserve the eight-color birds. |
The Lijialin way has always seen numerous stories on the show, among which the most emotional one was the fight for conservation of this habitat of fairy pitta (eight-color birds) in 2004. The fairy pitta could have the opportunity to build their nests due to the existence of organic plum gardens here, and would therefore fly to Lijialin Way year by year for the multiplication of their next generations. However, a slump in the sales price of plums has once forced the owners to plan to cut away their plum gardens. Yet for the sake of conserving this habitat of fairy pitta, they were plunged into a fight between their livelihood and the local ecology, and between the nature and humans. When the associate learned about this issue, they could really understand the difficult situation of these plum garden owners. Thus, they launched a special plan on the subject of salvaging our plum peasants and protecting the habitat for fairy pitta, under which the associate helped to promote the sales of the plums grown in the Shanhe Plum Garden. On the other side, the soil and water conservation bureau has put even greater efforts in the ecological conservation and industry development of this place, where this agency has helped the plum peasants to transform their production and promote the ecological conservation. The project of Keep Working as Plums Blossom sponsored by this agency has asked the civil public to go to mountain picking up the plums or provide the delivery of green plums so that the fairy pitta can be protected in some way. Mutual collaboration between the public agencies and community residents has attracted the eight-color birds flying from south to station in this forest path, thereby achieving the result of win-win in both the preservation of local ecology and the development of local livelihood.

The tree climbing activity held at the Taiping Ecological Farm can be very attractive to both the children and adults. |
