Hemeroallis Mountain was originally called Yazihlan Mountain or Taimali Mountain. During 1960s, the western immigrants from Chiayi and Yunlin came to the mountains to plant Hemeroallis. Every summer, Hemeroallis blossomed and the local residents called it the Hemeroallis Mountain. For nearly a decade, Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, COA, played a significant role to promote the tourism in the Hemeroallis Mountain. Here tourists can admire the beautiful sunrise and a whole range of stunning flowers.

There is a tale among the Paiwanese people in Taimali that their ancestors exclaimed TABAULI which meant that this place is where the sun rises earliest, at a time when they saw the sunrise from the oriental sea level at dawn on the Yueling (Leaping Ridge) of the Dawu Mountain with numerous rays of the morning sunshine. The Welcome the New Millennium Event prevailing globally in the year 2000 has recommended Taimali, the place of sunrise in the East Taiwan to the international arena. Although it is extremely wonderful to see the dawn sunshine from the sea coast in Taimali, this activity is still not as exciting as to have a gaze at the sea level in the morning pride below the Kinchen ( Golden Needle) Mountain, while there is a outburst of golden rays of sunlight.

Traffic was very difficult in the Kinchen Mountain in early years. Only by 1981 were the roads here overlaid by cement and only after the September 21 Earthquake in 1999 could there be a quantum leap in the recreational industries of the Kinchen Mountain. Now this area has become a leisure agriculture region attracting the endless waves of tourists. The Welcome the New Millennium event has facilitated the direct sales of the civil accommodation and food & beverages services, as well as the special agricultural products in the Kinchen Mountain, and has thus augmented the incomes of local peasants. Consequently, tourists from large cities can be more reluctant to leave the sea of flowers, the fragrance of tea and the rising sun here, but rather, be more likely to try the alternative experiences of production, living and ecology in this rural area.

Multiple Walkways through which to experience the beauty of forest

It is most possible to realize the beauty of the mountainous forests by wandering through the Fenglin ( Maple Forest) Walkway in the rain and mist.

Natural resources abound in the Kinchen Mountain, where there would be the most significant landscape of flying fireflies in both spring and summer, when the tourists would be surrounded by numerous rays of fluorescence. One can only rely on a personal visit to perceive such a lush natural landscape. Zhulin (Bamboo Forest) and Fenglin (Maple Forest) walkways, as well as the Dirt Slide are the best sites through which tourists can probe into the beauty of forest in the Kinchen Mountain after they appreciate the flowers grown here. The original forest forms of the Kinchen Mountain have been well preserved on the Dirt Slide replicated according to the shape of the path on which to carry woods in the early years. Alongside the Big Footprint Walkway is a route through which to enjoy the scenery of cherry blossoms and lilies.

The soil and water conservation bureau has built up a number of sightseeing kiosks at all the sites of most beautiful visions, while each of such kiosks is bestowed with a beautiful name as shown by the Millennium Kiosk and Morning Twilight Kiosk located on the summit of the mountain. At the end of the Zhulin Walkway is the Azure blue as if cleansed Observatory from which to overlook the far and nearby mountains and sea, as well as the beautiful landscape of various clans. Along this walkway is also a botanical scenic site that you need to visit in this mountain.
