The weather is very pleasant for human settlement in the Yong’an community with its old name as Luliao, and this village was set up to be the village of Japanese immigrants as early as in 1917, when the Japan occupied Taiwan. Moreover, Yulong Quan (spring) –a natural spring with clean and ample water, would be another natural resource that Luliao owns distinctively. The water of Yulong Quan gushing from the underground in the forest is clean and sweet in quality. Following the Yulong Quan Ecological Trail, you will move along the canyon to perceive the charms of this mountain waterfall and experience the magic of this tropical forest.

The SWCB has based its directions to the local authority on the specific circumstances of this place, while the Yong’an has been a rural village of a long history and conserved ambience. So it was unavoidable to encounter some problems when negotiating with the community residents about the overall construction at the outset. Later, local residents have sensed that the overall style of this community has remained as usual, while the open-style garden of each family has shifted from the previous apathy to outside visitors to the present-day smiling hospitality to all the tourists. With the common goal of creating a new community of great beauty, the overall village is striving to step towards a model community in which there would be spring water supplied to every household and weeping willows planted by each family!

The Yong’an Community has now been totally brushed up due to both the assistance of the SWCB and efforts of the community residents. There is only a journey of about 30 minutes from here to the downtown of Taitung City. Therefore, tourists can first take a spa at the Hongye (Red Leaves) Hot Spring and then select one of the various civil accommodations there to stay overnight, having an experience of the rural life with the singing of birds and the fragrance of teas.
